Since 2003, Loudoun Cares has been connecting Loudoun County residents with the resources they need as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Through our ConnectLine Helpline, we link individuals and families to local nonprofits and agencies that provide critical health and human services, including rent and utility assistance, food, clothing, medical and dental care, housing, job services, and more. We also partner with over 25 faith-based organizations to secure emergency financial aid for qualifying residents. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we expanded our services to directly distribute funds for rent and utility assistance.
Our Volunteer Center serves as a hub for community engagement, connecting resident and corporate volunteers with local nonprofits in need of support. Whether assisting with a one-time event or providing ongoing services, volunteers can explore opportunities, stay informed about upcoming events, and track their impact through our online platform.
Loudoun Cares partnerships and collaborations are the cornerstones of its ability to serve. As the bridge between government agencies, community-based organizations, and faith communities, Loudoun Cares stays abreast of resources through ongoing outreach and collaboration. These partnerships provide a streamlined approach for fast and efficient delivery of service.
We partner with local organizations to ensure we share information about our programs and those of the other nonprofits in our community. As a member of the Loudoun Human Services Network, we work with the network to stay abreast of county policies and opportunities to improve our services and engage our community.

2003 – Loudoun Cares forms as a nonprofit center to provide affordable office space, support services and reduced overhead costs for area nonprofits struggling with rising rents and competition from larger local nonprofits.
2004 – Loudoun Cares collaborates with the government by partnering with the Loudoun County Department of Family Services to alleviate some of the burden on the agency’s ConnectLine call center. The ConnectLine is created.
2007 – The Claude Moore Community Builders program is established to build a strong youth volunteer initiative focused on civic participation and leadership. The group is comprised of Loudoun County area high school students working with a variety of nonprofits.
2010 – The South Street Nonprofit Center is purchased to house six nonprofits (with a waitlist of additional nonprofits), providing a collaborative and inspirational working environment under one roof.
2014 – Loudoun Cares takes over the county’s Volunteer Center online platform from Volunteer Loudoun. Through this robust platform, we are able to connect residents and corporate volunteers with local nonprofits.
2014-2018 – Loudoun Cares serves the residents of Loudoun County through its South Street Nonprofit Center, the Information & Referral ConnectLine, the Claude Moore Community Builders program and the Volunteer Center.
2019 – Loudoun Cares undergoes a major strategic initiative to re-focus on its two primary missions: connecting those in need with those who care through its ConnectLine and Volunteer Center.
2020 – Loudoun Cares partnered with Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington to create the COVID19 Relief Fund and Helpline
2021 – Loudoun Cares took over operating the COVID19 Relief Fund and Helpline. Loudoun Cares was awarded both Small Business of the Year and Nonprofit of the Year by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce. Only two nonprofits have received the honor of Small Business of the Year.
2022 – Loudoun Cares helped to distribute over $1.7 mil in rent/utility assistance for more than 1,000 families since the onset of COVID19. Loudoun Cares’ Executive Director Valerie Pisierra was named Community Leader Nonprofit Executive of the Year by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce

LEESBURG, Virginia (July 2024) –Loudoun Cares Executive Director Valerie Pisierra has announced her retirement as of July 31, 2024 after 8 years of service to the organization. Jenny Tomlinson has been appointed by the Loudoun Cares Board of Directors to replace Pisierra as the organization’s new Executive Director, effective August 1, 2024.
