Virginia General Assembly Commends Former Loudoun Cares Executive Director Valerie Pisierra
LEESBURG, Virginia (August 2025) – Loudoun Cares is proud to announce that the Virginia General Assembly has officially commended Valerie Pisierra, former Executive Director of Loudoun Cares, for her extraordinary leadership, community impact, and years of dedicated service. Pisierra was honored on August 14, 2025 at the Loudoun Cares offices. Members of the Loudoun Cares staff gathered around as Virginia State Delegate Marty Martinez read the proclamation.
On January 27, 2025, the House of Delegates adopted House Joint Resolution No. 514, which was later agreed to by the Senate on January 30, 2025. The resolution recognizes Pisierra’s lasting contributions to Loudoun County through her tireless work advancing the mission of Loudoun Cares and uniting local nonprofits to better serve families in need.
Pisierra began her work with Loudoun Cares part-time in 2016 and quickly became an indispensable member of the organization. She was named Executive Director just one year later. Under her leadership, Loudoun Cares:
- Guided the organization’s efforts to unite nonprofits providing critical services to individuals and families across Loudoun County.
- Played a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping distribute more than $2.7 million in rent and utility assistance to over 1,200 families, connecting more than 3,000 families with direct services, and placing more than 1,300 volunteers to support essential community needs.
- Forged key partnerships, including one with the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington to expand services and support across the region.
In 2021 under Pisierra’s leadership, Loudoun Cares won the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce’s Nonprofit of the Year and the overall title of Small Business of the Year. In 2022, Pisierra was honored as Nonprofit Executive of the Year in 2022.
“Valerie’s passion and commitment to serving others has left an indelible mark on Loudoun Cares as well Loudoun County,” said Ronni Allen Ward, Chair, Loudoun Cares Board of Directors. “Her ability to bring people together, inspire action, and lead with compassion has made Loudoun Cares stronger and our community better.”
Though she retired from her role as Executive Director in 2024, Pisierra continues to volunteer her time with local nonprofits and remains dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Loudoun Cares and the Loudoun community extend heartfelt congratulations to Valerie Pisierra on this well-deserved recognition and express deep gratitude for her years of service.
