Loudoun Cares Receives $20,000 Grant from 100WomenStrong to Support Critical Community Programs

LEESBURG, Virginia (May 2025) – Loudoun Cares is honored to announce they have received a $20,000 grant from 100WomenStrong, a philanthropic collective dedicated to strengthening Loudoun County through strategic nonprofit investment. This grant will directly support Loudoun Cares’ ConnectLine Emergency Fund program, which provides immediate financial assistance and critical referral services to families in crisis.

The ConnectLine Emergency Fund is a lifeline for Loudoun residents facing hardship. Operating through a 24/7 phone-based helpline, the program connects clients with trained Resource Agents who assess needs, identify available programs and services, and coordinate emergency financial support for essential expenses like food, clothing, car repairs, and job services.

While Loudoun Cares also serves as the County’s selected administrator for several ARPA-funded programs covering rent, eviction prevention, and utilities, there remain significant day-to-day needs that ARPA does not address. With rental costs, food prices, and basic living expenses at an all-time high, the Emergency Fund plays a critical role in filling these gaps.

“This generous support from 100WomenStrong allows us to bolster our response to a growing population of Loudoun residents struggling to stay afloat,” said Jenny Tomlinson, Executive Director of Loudoun Cares. “Our holistic approach helps clients not just meet immediate needs, but also connect to long-term resources that can create a more stable future.”

The ConnectLine Emergency Fund is designed to serve the 24% of Loudoun households that are either living below the poverty line (3%) or are considered ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households (21%) — those earning above the poverty level but still unable to afford basic necessities.

The funding is part of 100WomenStrong’s 2025 grant cycle, which awarded $646,600 to 48 local nonprofits, bringing their total giving to more than $5.3 million since their founding in 2008. Loudoun Cares was selected under the Shelter category this year’s top funding priority as determined by the group’s 78 members.
