Loudoun Cares Receives $20,000 Grant from 100WomenStrong to Support Critical Community Programs

LEESBURG, Virginia (May 2025) – Loudoun Cares is honored to announce they have received a $20,000 grant from 100WomenStrong, a philanthropic collective dedicated to strengthening Loudoun County through strategic nonprofit investment. This grant will directly support Loudoun Cares ConnectLine clients, by specifically providing support for residents requiring short to mid-term case management support.

The ConnectLine is a lifeline for Loudoun residents facing hardship. Operating through a 24/7 phone-based helpline, the program connects clients with trained Resource Agents who assess needs, identify available programs and services, and coordinate emergency financial support for essential expenses like food, clothing, car repairs, and job services.

While the ConnectLine effectively addresses immediate needs like rent and utilities, Loudoun Cares has seen a growing demand for more intensive solutions as more families return within months after being helped for similar support. Many of these families face persistent instability due to illness, job loss, inflation, and high living costs, compounded by the lack of capacity among other nonprofit organizations to provide more case management. Through this grant, Loudoun Cares services can expand past one-time interventions towards implementing a structured short to medium-term support plan for families, supporting their efforts towards stability.

The ConnectLine serves the County’s most vulnerable residents, as about 70% of cases include families, single parents, or seniors, with 74% of households at or below 40% Area Median Income (AMI). By adding case management to our existing ConnectLine infrastructure, Loudoun Cares can help ensure that families do not fall through gaps in the system. With strong partnerships across nonprofits, faith-based groups, and government agencies, Loudoun Cares is working to make sure that Loudoun County’s safety net is stable and sustainable for families in need.

“The support from 100WomenStrong is critical to expand our services to help more families in need” said Jenny Tomlinson, Executive Director of Loudoun Cares. “This holistic case management approach helps clients meet immediate needs, but also connects them to long-term resources that can create a more stable future.” The funding is part of 100WomenStrong’s 2026 grant cycle, which awarded $712,500 to 51 local nonprofits, bringing their total giving to more than $6 million since their founding in 2008. Loudoun Cares was selected under the Shelter category, one of this year’s top funding priority as determined by the group’s 90 members.
