Dr. Bruce Ruscio has over 40 years of leadership experience advancing public health and community well-being across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. His career has focused on prevention, health policy, public health preparedness, and mitigating community health risks.
He is currently chair of the Clarke County School Health Advisory Board and has held leadership positions in nonprofit organizations, including service as a board chair and governance committee chair.
Bruce’s public service includes leadership roles at the Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of State, where he worked on public health, environmental health, medical readiness, and international health security initiatives. In the private sector, he served as Executive Director for Global Public Policy at Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics, where he worked internationally to improve vaccine uptake and advance public health through policy, programs, and partnerships.
Bruce holds a Doctor of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Public Health from Boston University. He has authored and co-authored articles in peer-reviewed public health and scientific journals. He is a retired U.S. Air Force officer and recipient of multiple military awards and service medals.
A Loudoun County resident for eight years, Bruce lives in Waterford, where he owns and operates a small farm. He is active in several community volunteer efforts.
