VALERIE PISIERRA

Executive Director

Valerie Pisierra has always encouraged people to strive to be a contributing force in their community; she believes getting involved is a great way to enrich your life and the lives of those you serve. Her journey with LC began as a part-time employee in 2016; she was named Executive Director in October 2017 and appointed to the Loudoun County Human Services Strategic Plan Advisory Committee in 2019. Valerie is the Chair of the Loudoun Human Services Network and Co-Chair of the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit Committee. Valerie grew up in Arizona and attended college and graduate school earning a BS and an MBA in Business. She spent the greater part of the last three decades as a military spouse, living and working overseas in Japan, Germany, and England.  A large part of her 25-year career has included volunteering and organizing nonprofit groups. For 10 years (2 of which she served as Vice Chairperson), Valerie worked with Americans Working Around the Globe (AWAG), a European nonprofit organization focused on training and connecting volunteers.  She has been honored to be presented with the Department of the Army Commander’s Public Service Award, the United States European Command Award Certificate of Achievement, the European PTA Volunteer of the Year and most recently she has been named the 2022 Nonprofit Executive Leader by the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce during their Community Leadership Awards. Under her leadership, Loudoun Cares was honored to be named 2021 Nonprofit of the Year and 2021 Small Business of the Year by the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce. Only one of two nonprofits that have ever received this honor. Valerie is thrilled to have landed in Northern Virginia and believes serving her community is the biggest honor of all.
