MONTI MERCER

Immediate Past Chair

Monti Mercer is a neuroscience researcher and science humanitarian focused on sharing basic biomedical research and science education. He is currently the Community Liaison with Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the Janelia Research Campus. In this capacity, Monti leads the department of Community Relations in developing community partnerships with local leaders and organizations to expand scientific education and charitable experiences. This native Virginian holds a BS from Hampden-Sydney College in central Virginia. He has volunteered as a wish granted with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for over 15 years, a local religious youth educator and organizer, a member of the Leadership Loudoun Class of 2019, and is known to be a wine enthusiast and musician. Monti’s servitude also includes an appointment as a Trustee for Dulles District with the Loudoun County Public Library and a Board Director with the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce.
