Loudoun Cares Announces Outstanding Volunteer Awards

Call for Nominations Open Through February 28, 2019

Awards Ceremony to be Held April 19, 2019 at the National Conference Center

Leesburg, VA, February 4, 2019 — Loudoun Cares today announced an open call for nominations for its 3rd annual Outstanding Volunteers Awards, recognizing residents who make a measurable difference in the lives of the people and nonprofit(s) they serve here in Loudoun County.  Loudoun Cares is a Loudoun County non-profit focused on connecting those in need with those who serve through its Information & Referral Helpline and online Volunteer Center.

The awards are open to any individual county resident, or team of residents, who have provided distinguished community service in 2018. Residents, organizations and companies are encouraged to nominate individuals or teams for one of the following awards:

  • Outstanding Public Safety Volunteer (Adult, Senior, & Youth categories)
  • Outstanding Individual Volunteer (Adult, Senior, & Youth categories)
  • Outstanding Volunteer Team (Adult, Senior & Youth categories)
  • Outstanding Community or Civic Organization
  • Outstanding Corporate Volunteer Team
  • Outstanding Volunteer Team (no age restriction)
  • Outstanding Project (one-time event or project)
  • Outstanding Project Leader

Nominations will be accepted through 5:00 PM on February 28, 2019. To apply, please complete the nomination form found at https://www.loudouncares.org/2019-outstanding-volunteer-nominations/. Thanks to partner National Conference Center, award recipients will be honored at a ceremony to be held at the conference center in Leesburg on Friday, April 19, 2019 from 5:30 pm-8:30 pm. The event will be emceed by Tony Howard, CEO, Loudoun Chamber of Commerce. The event’s keynote speaker will be Phyllis Randall, chairwoman, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.

Loudoun Cares is a Leesburg-based nonprofit serving the Loudoun community through its Information & Referral Helpline and online Volunteer Center. The Information & Referral Helpline specializes in connecting people in need with resources, information or referrals to local service and support providers. In 2018 alone, the helpline fielded more than 2,200 calls and connected more than 1,100 households with organizations that could help them through hardship. Loudoun Cares’ Volunteer Center is the county’s only online portal connecting volunteers with local non-profits in need of support. In 2018, the Volunteer Center connected roughly 1,700 volunteers to local nonprofits. The Center currently has over 190 nonprofits registered and receives between 80-100 new volunteer registrations each month.
