We invite you to nominate outstanding individuals and teams in Loudoun County who have provided distinguished community service during 2019. This is your opportunity to show appreciation to those deserving of public recognition. Nominations should demonstrate the impact the volunteer(s) has had on the individuals served and/or the effectiveness/efficiency of the nonprofit organization itself.

NOMINATION PROCEDURE

Those eligible for nominations include individuals or teams whose volunteer services have benefited Loudoun County during 2019. You may submit a nomination for an individual person or a team of volunteers to be honored.

At the end of this nomination, you will be able to indicate if you would like to submit the individual nomination to be considered for the Judy Hines Service of a Lifetime Award. You will have a chance to tell us how long the nominee has been volunteering in Loudoun County, the nonprofits he/she has served if more than one, and their overall impact on the community. (NOTE: Only Individual nominations will be considered for the Lifetime award at this time)

Nominations must include a completed application.

Nominations must include a profile picture of the individual or team at the time of submission. Additional documentation up to one page may also be uploaded at the time of submission but is not required.

Submission Deadline: All Materials Must be Received by Midnight Monday, Mar 9, 2020 (Deadline Extended)

AWARDS CEREMONY

The awards ceremony will be held at:

West Belmont Place at the National Conference Center

Friday, May 1, 2020, 5:15 pm – 8:30 pm

Although honoree(s) do not need to be present to win, we ask that a representative be present at the awards ceremony.

An individual or team may only be nominated for one applicable category. However, a team may be nominated for a team award while a member of that same team may be nominated for an individual award.

In order to award honorees, a category must receive at least two completed applications.

Loudoun Cares reserves the right to combine and remove categories as they see fit.

Individual honorees and their nominator will each receive complimentary tickets to the awards ceremony.

Team honorees will receive four complimentary tickets to the ceremony along with a ticket for the nominator.

AWARD CATEGORIES & REQUIREMENTS

Adult Categories (19 to 60):
-Outstanding Adult Public Safety Volunteer
Nominees should be individuals, ages 19 to 60 as of December 31st, who have demonstrated outstanding service in the public safety field during 2019.

-Outstanding Adult Volunteer
Nominees should be individuals, ages 19 to 60 as of December 31st, whose individual efforts demonstrated outstanding service during 2019.

-Outstanding Adult Volunteer Team
Nominees should be a team, ages 19 to 60 as of December 31st, whose combined efforts demonstrated outstanding service during 2019.


Senior Categories (over 60):
-Outstanding Senior Public Safety Volunteer
Nominees should be individuals, ages over 60 as of December 31st, who have demonstrated outstanding service in the public safety field during 2019.

-Outstanding Senior Volunteer
Nominees should be individuals, ages over 60 as of December 31st, whose individual efforts demonstrated outstanding community service in 2019.

-Outstanding Senior Volunteer Team
Nominees should be a team of individuals, ages over 60 as of December 31st, whose combined team efforts demonstrated outstanding community service in 2019.


Youth Categories (18 & under):
-Outstanding Youth Public Safety Volunteer
Nominees should be individuals, through the ages of 18 as of December 31st, who have demonstrated outstanding service in the public safety field during 2019.

-Outstanding Youth Volunteer
Nominees should be individuals, through the ages of 18 as of December 31st, whose individual efforts demonstrated outstanding community service in 2019.

-Outstanding Youth Volunteer Team
Nominees should be a team of individuals, through the ages of 18, whose combined efforts demonstrated outstanding community service in 2019.


Specialty Categories (no age restriction):

-Outstanding Community or Civic Organization
Nominees should be a community or civic organization (i.e., Rotary, Faith, Alumni Organization, etc.) in Loudoun County which has demonstrated outstanding community service during 2019.

-Outstanding Corporate Volunteer Team
Nominees should be a corporate team based in Loudoun County (i.e. branch, office, etc.) which has demonstrated outstanding community service during 2019.

-Outstanding Volunteer Team
Nominees should be a team of a combination of ages who have demonstrated outstanding community service during 2019.

-Outstanding Volunteer Project
Nominees should be for a one-time event or project based in Loudoun County which has demonstrated outstanding community service during 2019.

-Outstanding Project Leader
Nominees should be an individual who significantly led an outstanding community service project from start to finish in 2019.

-Outstanding Veteran Volunteer
Nominees should be an individual who has demonstrated outstanding community service during 2019. Individuals must be a US Veteran (i.e., Active Duty, Reservist, Retiree) having served in the US Armed Forces (i.e., Air Force, Army, Marine Corp., Navy, Coast Guard).

DEFINITION OF TERMS

  • Impact = the positive change in the people (i.e., in their situation, circumstances, attitudes, actions, etc) or organization (i.e., in the delivery of service, efficiency, effectiveness, cost savings, etc.) served as a result of the nominee’s time and talent.
  • Evidence = third party comments of impact (i.e., testimonials from participants, or other stakeholders), facts of before and after change amount (Ex: Increased number of meals served), observations of specific situations or dynamics that demonstrate change (Ex: Increased attendance due to volunteers involvement), or organizational measurements in place to determine change (Ex: 10% reduction in expenses due to new procedures).
