May 16, 2017

The Loudoun Cares Board of Directors announced today the launch of a brand new annual campaign that will run only from May 31 to June 30 to raise funds that will directly support Loudoun County.  Mary Ellen Bowers, Board Chair, stated, “Loudoun Cares is focused solely on the County’s residents. We are reaching out with this campaign to offer the chance to support critical life sustaining and enriching programs for all Loudoun residents through individual donations. All of these tax-deductible donations will be directed to the development and operation of Loudoun Cares’ outstanding local programs.”

The highly successful Loudoun Cares programs that reach thousands of County residents include:

Information & Referral Helpline – The only helpline that serves Loudoun County residents exclusively helps the county’s most vulnerable residents find critical food, clothing, shelter, and utility relief. Trained specialists answer more than 2,500 phone calls annually, resulting in 7,500 referrals to over 90 organizations per year!

Online Volunteer Center – This valuable resource matches dozens of volunteers seeking volunteer opportunities with multiple agencies in need of their help, demonstrating an incredible 540% increase in registered agencies in the past 12 months!!

Claude Moore Community Builders Program – This unique program provides 40 high school students from 15 Loudoun high schools training in leadership, communication skills and the culture of service. Students are placed with local non-profits and each log at least 100 hours of community service over the 10 month program.

Valuable benefits are reserved for each “Loudoun Cares Champion,” donor. Supporters are encouraged to give via personal check, through the Loudoun Cares website or text  CARES to 91999.
